Roti can be considered as the queen of the Indian Thali. Roti has become an integral part of the Indian food culture. We can’t imagine our Indian Thali without our Rotis. (Roti also Known as Chapati) is a round flatbread consumed around the Indian Subcontinent. They are made from whole wheat flour traditionally known as ‘Gehu ka Atta’ which is combined with water to make a dough. But if you are the one who follows certain diets like Paleo then you might have to bid adieu to Rotis.

Paleo diet (also known as Cavemen’s diet) is a dietary plan based on foods similar to what might have been eaten during the Paleolithic era(Stone-age era), which dates from approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago.

The diet avoids processed food and includes vegetables, fruits, nuts, roots, and meat. It excludes some foods like dairy products, grains, sugar, legumes, processed oils, salt, alcohol, and coffee.     Essentials and Ingredients


      • Medium-sized bowl
      • Pan 
      • Rolling board and pin(chakala belan)


      • Coconut flour (1 cup)
      • Psyllium husk(Isabgol) (2 tbsp)
      • Salt (½ tsp)
      • Oil (2 tbsp)
      • Water (warm) (1 cup)
      • Ghee or butter (2 tbsp)

    Making Paleo Roti



    • Take a medium-sized bowl and add coconut flour and psyllium husk to it.
    • Add some salt as per your taste.
    • Add oil or butter to the mixture.
    • Mix it thoroughly to make a dough(add some water)


    • Cover it with a lid for at least 10 minutes.
    • Now take some dough in your hand and make a ball out of it.
    • Make a round Roti with the help of a rolling pin (belan).
    • Place it on a pan and cook it for 5 minutes till it becomes crisp.

    Your lovely Rotis are ready to munch on!
